Thoughts: You're My Ex-Boyfriend Now
So, the break-up starting to come up in conversation with my outer circle friends and acquaintances. I've had to say, "We broke up" enough times that it feels normal.

But no one's asked me, "Do you know him?" I haven't had to bestow the ex-boyfriend title on him. I only have one other official ex-boyfriend, from high school. The title doesn't seem to fit. "That's my ex-boyfriend," I say and point to someone about whom I still care deeply. "Ex-boyfriend" carries a connotation of anger and brokenness. Maybe it'll fit if he keeps acting weird like we agreed not to do. Or I just get more distance from the relationship. Or I give up on the idea that we will get back together someday.

Thanks for reading,
Avery
